On Fridays I do a weekly Yoga session, 11:15am-12:15pm, where I record a time-lapse of my session to then create into a performance piece.
By taking and selecting screenshots of interest/importance (such as motions of movement, interesting shapes to paint, and blocks of hue) to context of that particular session I then edit them together (see Editing Entry) to create “a stop-motion style” performance piece.
In the end I end up with an abundance of imagery (approx 200-400 images depending on the sessions length/intricacy) to use as reference for more exploration in my project when exploring movement and expression within the body.
I learnt that to get the best results for references you need a good position for the camera (different angles on the same/multiple poses are best for variety when painting) with less disturbance in the frame when taking the screenshots. It this is easier to edit in the long run when framing these performances.
In the future I want to expand on this and add new elements whilst filming using the pre-existing format/method of working I have established.
